Where I've Been

I'll just start by saying this...

I haven't written in almost three weeks.

Almost every day after work, I'd type in my website, hover over the Enter key, and then... nothing. I'd stare at the blinking cursor for a while before closing my laptop again.

Not because I didn't have anything to say, but because I wasn't in the right place to say it.

I've noticed something about myself over the years. When life gets messy, I disappear. From people. From routines. From writing. From myself.

Writing has always been one of those places that requires complete honesty, and I've never wanted this blog to become somewhere I only show up when life feels beautiful and put together. But I've realized that when I'm not taking care of myself, writing is one of the first things to go. I stop creating. I stop reflecting. I stop slowing down long enough to actually listen to myself.

And if I'm honest, that's exactly what happened.

The last few weeks were full. My birthday. A trip to Poland. Seeing Bad Bunny. My husband's birthday. Argentina making the final. On paper, it all sounds wonderful, and it was.

But somewhere in the middle of all that excitement, I lost my footing.

I've spent so much of my life escaping that sometimes I still don't know how to simply experience life. I chase the next celebration, the next distraction, the next reason to keep moving. Before I know it, I'm no longer present in my own life.

I slipped back into old habits. I drank more than I should have, and my emotions became louder than they needed to be. Things that normally would've been conversations became arguments, and the peace I'd worked so hard to build slowly started slipping away.

The hardest part wasn't realizing I'd fallen back into old patterns. It was realizing that every time I do, I stop writing.

It's almost like a part of me believes I have to wait until I've figured everything out before I'm allowed to come back here. But that's never been what this space was meant to be.

The Art of Becoming was never supposed to document a perfect life. It was always meant to document a real one. So here I am. Not because I've suddenly figured everything out, but because I've finally slowed down enough to hear myself again.

The last week has looked very different. Less noise. Less running. More walks. More home-cooked meals. More early nights. More journaling. More quiet mornings. More choosing myself in ways that nobody else really sees.

I've been reminding myself that self-care isn't something you earn after you've fallen apart. It's something that helps keep you from falling apart in the first place.

I'm learning that becoming isn't always exciting. Sometimes becoming looks like saying no. Closing your laptop before you're exhausted. Putting the glass down. Going for a walk. Making dinner. Reading a chapter before bed. Letting your nervous system finally catch up with you.

Maybe that's where I've been.

Not lost.

And maybe this post isn't really about where I've been at all. Maybe it's about where I'm choosing to go from here.

Love this Kier. I resonate with this a lot. Unfortunately I forgot about self care and am into my 8 th week in the hospital. My health was the first affected. On the mend now. I pray you can wake each morning with intentionality to make that day all you wish for yourself. Cheering for you!!
