She Needs A Little Edge

When I first started The Art of Becoming, I knew exactly how I wanted it to feel.

Soft. Pink.

Flowers.

Pretty mornings.

Feminine and a little romantic.

And I still love all of those things. I will probably be a pink girl until the day I die.

But lately, every time I open this website, something feels... off. It's beautiful. It just feels like one part of me.

The very soft part.

Because yes, I love slow mornings, baking something from scratch, lighting a candle and pretending I have my entire life together for a total of 12 minutes. But I've also seen a lot of sunrises for reasons that had absolutely nothing to do with a healthy morning routine.

Both are me.

I've partied. I've been reckless. I've made mistakes. I've learned most of my lessons the hard way...(sometimes more than once). And somewhere along the way, I think I started believing that “becoming” meant leaving all of those versions of myself behind.

I'm realizing now that it doesn't.

I can love quiet mornings and a really good night out. I can care about my health and still order the pasta. I can be deeply reflective and occasionally ridiculous. I can love pink and softness and still have a little edge.

And I want this space to finally feel like all of me.

So, The Art of Becoming is going offline on Thursday, September 10th while I give her a much-needed makeover.

And don't worry, the pink isn't going anywhere. If anything, there's probably going to be more of it. But she's getting a little black.

A little glamour.

A little after-hours.

A little lipstick-left-on-the-glass.

The flowers can stay.....we're just messing up their hair a little.

I don't know exactly when I'll be ready to open the doors again. I don't want to rush it just for the sake of having a relaunch date. I want to come back when it finally feels right.

So consider this a little see you soon.

The next time you visit The Art of Becoming, she might look a little different.

She's still soft.

She's still pink.

She's just lived a little.

And I think it's time she looked like it.

See you on the other side.

XOXOXO
